Music

I write songs because I want my kids to have them years from now. Each one tells a story, captures a moment, or says something I wanted them to know. I record everything at home in Airdrie. It's nothing professional — just me, my instruments, and a way of getting the songs down while I can. One day, I'd love to take a few of them into a proper studio and hear what they could become with a bit of polish. If one or two of the songs happen to resonate with other people along the way, that would mean a lot to me too. But ultimately, these songs started with my kids, and they're my way of leaving them a few stories to keep.

I’ll slow dance with you, one day.

For Ava, Grace & Emily

I wrote this song for my three girls.

After my fight with the grim reaper, I set myself a goal — to get some of my music recorded for them. Something from Dad that they could have in the future. Something they could keep and listen to long after I've gone.

It's a song about a day I hope I get to see — watching my girls grow up, find someone they love, and eventually stand beside them on their wedding day.

Maybe I'll be there as the proud dad beside them. Maybe I'll be looking down from somewhere above.

Either way, I wanted them to have this.

It isn't perfect. It isn't mastered to perfection. That's not really the point.

“That's my Dad singing. He wrote this for us.”

It's simply Dad singing his songs again — something from me to them, for the future.

For Ava, Grace & Emily.

About Me

Jim

I'm a dad of three girls, a songwriter and a musician.

At 35, I became a heart-attack survivor. I'm disabled, and life has changed in ways I never expected, but music has remained one of the things I love most.

I play multiple instruments while I still can. I write, record and make music because I want to keep doing what I love and share it with other people.

These songs are my way of telling stories, making memories and putting something of myself into the world.

ML6 Community Music Group

I founded the ML6 Community Music Group in 2022 because I wanted to create something positive, welcoming and completely community-focused.

Every week we teach adults to play music completely free of charge . No expensive lessons. No pressure. No judgement. Just people coming together, learning, playing and enjoying music as a community.

Whether you've never picked up an instrument before or you've been playing for years, you're welcome.

For me, ML6CMG is about more than learning music. It's about bringing people together, building confidence and creating a place where everyone has the opportunity to make music.

If that sounds like something you'd like to be part of, come and check us out.
